Chad Smith, Risk Advisor
Chad Smith is a third-generation family farm owner rooted in the Mid-South Mississippi River Basin of Western Tennessee, with over 25 years of experience in the commercial cash grain industry. Throughout his career, Chad has worked across Tennessee, Missouri, and Illinois for some of the world’s largest grain companies, developing deep expertise in cash grain markets and commodity spread relationships.
After more than two decades in the grain trading business, Chad realized he missed the hands-on engagement with producers and clients that originally drew him to the industry.
That realization led Chad to Wellington, where he felt an immediate connection to the team and its mission. At Wellington, Chad brings his deep knowledge of grain markets and strong relationship-driven approach to help expand and strengthen the firm’s network. He hit the ground running, contributing meaningfully to the team, and continues building lasting relationships across the industry.
